The few problems where they really compete with conventional computers are classifiable as study of a quantum system that they emulate, not doing any work that people wanted to get done. Things go full-speed in solution-in-search-of-problem mode. In the field of cryptanalysis and factoring, where there has been much work, the results are miserable, and over-hyped. | |
